NORWALK – A 22-year-old woman was arrested on child abuse charges Thursday, four days after her 5-month-old child showed up at Norwalk Hospital with a fractured skull and broken ribs, police said.
Jamie Lane, of 5 Avenue E, was charged with first-degree assault and risk of injury to a minor. She was held on $75,000 bond and will be arraigned Friday afternoon at Norwalk Superior Court.
The Youth Bureau of the Norwalk Police Department investigated the case after hospital staff reported the injury on Sunday.
“It’s a pretty sad case, one of the worst ones I’ve seen in my 23 years of service,” said Lt. Asheldy Gonzalez, commander of the Youth Bureau.
