NEW LONDON, CT (WFSB) -
Law enforcement agencies investigating missing child cases have always hit a wall when it comes to accessing a new address of parental kidnappers who’ve filed tax returns. But that may soon change.
A new law would make it legal for the Internal Revenue Service to release information from tax returns like a parent’s address to law enforcement agencies.
Congressman Joe Courtney from 2nd Congressional District is co-authoring the new legislation called The Recovering Missing Children Act. He said it could help solve half of the nation’s 1,700 parental abductions each year.
In cities like New London, which investigates about two family abduction cases a year, the new law will help detectives.
“It’s all about timing, getting the word out to local state and federal authorities and trying to follow up. Legislation such as this is going to be a great tool for us,” said Matthew Galante, a New London police detective.
In the past 10 years the National Center for Exploited and Missing Children reports that Connecticut has had 10 active missing children cases, including the 2001 disappearance of Bridgeport native Bianca Lebron.

You know what else they could do to find missing and kidnapped children, stop by the DCF Offices and just look around. 80% of those children were kidnapped.

While speaking to a friend about an unusual case of a police officer that was actually trying to help him instead of getting points. The story made me realize that even though the corruption in the state there are good people in the system that try to help, but with all the bad it’s hard to find the good people. Well there is, and to that person who decided to help, says a lot. Things aren’t always as they appear, including people. Thank you to the officer that wasn’t out for points but for not making a situation and seeing it in a different light. I believe what you give in life you get back, I also believe that we all have to live with our choices and our mistakes. For myself, guilt is the worst thing to live with, there is no punishment that can measure up to that..

After police were left on hold for over half an hour, trying to report abuse and neglect with 5 children living in filthy conditions, with drugs and bags of death laying around, ok not death but anyways. The parents of these poor 5 children were arrested over a month ago, for drugs and abuse, and still the children were left to fend for themselves in the house.
Filth and danger, check.Illegal drugs within the reach of minors, check. High and neglectful parents, check. Children not removed from home, check. DCF doing a satisfactory job… Sure says the commissioner.
Well you know what, if I was asked to grade myself: A+.
So CT DCF’s agency’s commissioner decided he would investigate this situation and found that things could have been ‘better’ but all and all they did their job.
I must admit, I am glad to finally report for once that DCF is doing their job and everything is o

k. Sure the kids were subjected to a garbage and drug infested living environment but DCF did their job and that is what makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Well then, DCF my hat is off to you!
